Jovin Webb will do anything to win you over in his romantic new single and video Mine Someday — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
The latest preview of the Baton Rouge singer-songwriter and former American Idol contestant’s upcoming debut album Drifter, Mine Someday passionately and powerfully hits the sweet spot between smouldering blues and slow-burning soul. Over a slowly shuffling southern-soul groove, Webb’s sandpapered vocal cords deliver an earnest message of devotion and determination:
“I been trying so hard
To get your attention
There’s something I want to tell you
I thought I should mention
You’re the type of woman
That can have any guy in the world
And I’ll do anything to make you my girl
Don’t you give up
Give this a try
I don’t wanna let
This chance pass us by
You’re my every desire
There ain’t nothin’ that can put out this fire
Won’t you let our love take us higher
I’m down on my knees and I pray
You’ll be mine someday.”
Mine Someday is a step away from the gritty, blues-infused anthems Webb has become known for, offering instead a more tender, nuanced take on love. The lyrics speak to the kind of vulnerability that comes from putting yourself on the line for someone else, and the melody — driven by rhythmic guitars and sweeping organ lines — provides the perfect backdrop for Webb’s heartfelt delivery. “That song is about new love,” Webb explains. “I wanted to capture that feeling of wanting to take a chance on something special and put all of yourself into it.”
The video, which features Webb performing the track in an intimate studio setting, enhances the song’s impact, drawing viewers in with its simplicity and focus on Webb’s emotional performance. With its soft lighting and closeup shots, the video serves as a visual reminder of the song’s central themes: vulnerability, hope, and the desire to connect.
Produced by multi-Grammy winner Hambridge (Buddy Guy, Susan Tedeschi, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram), Drifter is a 12-track exploration of Webb’s life, blending blues, soul, and Southern rock. From the haunting Bottom Of A Bottle to the socially conscious Save Me, each song reveals a piece of Webb’s journey as he navigates love, loss, and personal redemption.
