Lolita Terrorist Sounds colour outside the lines with Berlin Wall artist Kiddy Citny on their experimental and disturbing new video Living-in-glory — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
A multi-media collaboration between the Berlin avant-garde industrial band and the noted German artist, Living-in-glory captures a dark, intense live painting performance midway between a hallucination and a fever dream. As Citny drips, pours, smears and manipulates his materials, LTS’s ominous drones serve as the sonic canvas, adding an extra dimension to the shapeshifting creation.
Like the video itself, the collaboration was unplanned, as bandleader Maurizio Vitale recounts. “I met Kiddy a few years ago in Amsterdam. Last November, we bumped into each other at a Berlin train station and spontaneously decided to team up. This video is the visual translation of our most experimental track, captured in Kiddy’s Berlin atelier.”
Adds Citny: “Creating this piece with Lolita Terrorist Sounds was an inspiring process. Their innovative sound and the historical context of this track infused my painting with a very exceptional energy. It was a fascinating blend of our artistic worlds.”
Living-in-glory, the closing track of band’s 2023 debut album St. Lola, is an innovative blend of meditative tones, ASMR and industrial sounds. It was recorded in an unconventional studio on Dresdener Strasse, located on the former Berlin Wall strip. The track incorporates field recordings from the haunted building, once home to East Germany’s secret services.
St. Lola stands as a testament to the band’s commitment to pushing boundaries and defying musical conventions. Drawing inspiration from an array of sources, Lolita Terrorist Sounds channel the raw intensity of Nine Inch Nails, the avant-garde spirit of Einstürzende Neubauten, the sonic depth of Swans, the primal energy of The Stooges and the dark poeticism of early Nick Cave.
Known for their incendiary live shows, Lolita Terrorist Sounds will soon embark on a short tour of select European dates. Newly joined by Hamburg drummer Kian Kiesling, the band’s electrifying performances are not to be missed:
Nov. 22 | Berlin, Hinterraum
Nov. 23 | Poznan, CK Nowe Amore
Nov. 24 | Warsaw, Chmury
Nov. 29 | Prague, Café V lese
