Classic Album Review: Christine McVie | In the Meantime

The Fleetwood Mac alum doesn't stray from her comfort zone on this comeback set.

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

You can take Christine McVie out of Fleetwood Mac, but… well. you know the rest.

Although In The Meantime is her first solo album since walking away from music five years ago, the singer and keyboardist makes it clear she hasn’t lost a step. On these dozen personal pop-rock tracks, McVie displays the same supple vocals and melodic gifts she used to chart-topping effect on hits like Don’t Stop and You Make Loving Fun. Granted, there’s no getting around the fact that unless and until she gets back with the Mac, she’s probably not living up to her full potential. But this will do in the … well, you know.
