Classic Album Review: Various Artists | Whiteboys Soundtrack

The soundtrack to this white-trash gangsta-rap parody has no sense of humour.

This came out in 1999 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

This spoof about white-trash kids from Iowa who think they’re gangsta rappers is supposed to be a hoot. Sadly, the soundtrack doesn’t share its sense of humour.

Big Punisher, Raekwon, Slick Rick, Soopa Fly and Canibus turn in tracks of typical G-rap bravado and bluster, Snoop Dogg pretty much phones in the title cut, and the rest is filler from a bunch of relative unknowns. Call me crazy, but given the title, shouldn’t this have some tracks from Eminem, Kid Rock or even Vanilla Ice? That might have helped make these white guys a little more fly.
