Adrienne Nye vanquishes the forces of chaos with her stirring new synth-pop single Battleground — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
Inspired by 2023’s devastating B.C. wildfires, the latest release from the Vancouver singer-songwriter delves deep into the struggles of navigating a world in upheaval amid nature’s constant battle for survival. Co-written by Nye and producer Cody Taylor of Fiend Recordings, Battleground explores the relentless struggle for survival that resonates on a universal scale. The duo began writing the single in the summer of 2023 when forest fires had devastated B.C.’s interior. Beginning with the lyric “We’re livin’ in a world on fire,” the song sparked something deeper in both of them. “We’re livin’ on a battleground,” Nye sings, capturing the essence of a world where the line between fight and flight blurs.
Nye is a multi-talented singer-songwriter based in Vancouver, known for her mezzo-soprano vocal range and versatile musical style that encompasses pop, folk, synthwave, chillwave, downtempo, synth pop, and melodic techno. With a background in both arts and science, she is the owner of Marigold Music Inc. and Yaletown Records, where she is dedicated to fostering artists’ growth and creativity.
Her musical journey includes being a member of the West Coast folk band Fallow State, who released two EPs and won the 2019 Whistler Music Search Competition. Adrienne has also showcased her musical talents as a bassoonist and trumpeter in various orchestras and jazz bands growing up, and as a soprano in the F.A.C.E. Treble Choir in Montreal.
Nye’s artistic endeavors extend well beyond music, in acting and dance, having performed in notable productions like Les Miserables and trained at prestigious institutions such as the National Ballet School. As a member of organizations such as the Songwriters Association of Canada and UBCP | ACTRA, Adrienne is deeply involved in the music and entertainment industry.
