This came out in 1999 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):
Now that Cher is back in the charts with Believe, there couldn’t be a better time for her old label to cash in — er, celebrate her career — with this greatest-hits collection.
But to be fair, money-grab or not, this hour-long set more than fills the bill. Running in reverse chronological order (thus turning back time, you see) it kicks off with ’90s tunes such as The Shoop Shoop Song and works its way back to bona fide classics like Half-Breed, Dark Lady and even I Got You Babe. Naturally, it doesn’t have Believe, but it’s got everything a Cher fan wants — right down to a picture of her butt tattoos.
