Adeoluwa Lists His Unlucky Numbers: 4,5,6

The Afro-fusion artist shares an old-school lovelorn ballad from his latest EP.

How bad is Adeoluwa at love? Let him count the ways on his new single 4,5,6 — showcasing today on Tinnitist.

The Nigerian-born, Regina-raised Afropop singer’s supple new single — a highlight of his new EP The King Of Detours — features a sleek guitar riff and heartfelt lyricism that join forces to craft an ultrasmooth ballad about love and loss reminiscent of early 2000s R&B.

“The EP is called The King Of Detours because last year was not what I planned, and I made many detours on my way and ended up with this beautiful record,” the artist explains. “‘4,5,6 is the perfect introduction to the project because it begins in the middle of a time of confusion and directionless transition. I hope this story resonates with everyone who listens, and they listen to every word.”

Influenced by a wide variety of artists ranging from Tina Turner to Adekunle Gold to Stevie Wonder, Adeoluwa refers to his unique, genre-bending sound as experimental Afro-fusion. The result is a musical style that transcends borders and a deeply personal, high energy stage presence that’s earned him the nickname The Greatest Showman.

He released vibrant debut LP After Bells and Whistles in 2019 alongside a captivating docuseries that chronicled the making of the project. That same year, his electric single Escape opened the Saskatchewan Music Awards, where he has earned five nominations, including a nod in the very first AfroBeats category. Since then, he’s continued to build on that momentum, releasing three EPs, a live album, and a string of collaborations, along with singing for Regina band People Of The Sun. He has performed at Breakout West and the SaskMusic Winter Showcase.

Now, with The King Of Detours, he is ready to catapult his career to new heights. Inspired by the trials and tribulations of the hardest periods of his life, he leaned on his faith to cope with the immigration difficulties, career struggles, and personal heartbreak.
