This came out in 2003 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):
DISCS: Four.
TRACKS: 80.
YEARS: 1968 – 1992.
LOWDOWN: A-how how how cool. The little ole band from Texas gets the award for having the sharpest-dressed box of the season. Chrome, Smoke And Barbecue comes in a box shaped like an old rib joint, complete with a slanted, corrugated roof for a lid. The bearded boogie-rockers don’t let you down with what’s inside either. CS&B dishes up four platters heaped with hits, from greasy old faves like La Grange, I Thank You and Tush to smokin’ prime cuts like Cheap Sunglasses, Tube Snake Boogie and Gimme All Your Lovin’.
NEW STUFF: Half a dozen “Medium Rare” odds ’n’ ends; a few cuts from the boys’ pre-Top outfits.
EYE CANDY: An 88-page book with track-by-track commentary and bio; a sheet of little ZZ Top cutouts to play with; a double-sided flipbook of famous video scenes.
DAMAGE: About $80.
