Kalsey Kulyk | Love Me Like An Outlaw: Exclusive Video Premiere

The western country-popster shares a cinematic tale of romantic yearning.

Kalsey Kulyk is out to steal your heart with the captivating video for her latest country-pop single Love Me Like An Outlaw — premiering exclusively on Tinnitist.

Simultaneously cinematic and down-home, the new video balances the song’s romantic and rural elements, perfectly complementing the emotional tone and musical texture of the Western Canadian artist’s most recent hit. And a bonafide hit it is: Kulyk’s beautifully produced, perfectly delivered slice of yearning country poetry song is not a Top 30 hit and continues to rise at radio week after week. Released in June, it stands as an unequivocal testament to Kalsey’s brilliance and undeniably marks a defining moment in her career.

It’s been a long-awaited triumph for the singer, who was born in Hudson Bay, SK, and now lives in Beaumont, AB with husband and fellow artist Eric Ethridge and their two-year-old son. Kulyk sat on the track for nearly five years, believing it was special. Trusting her instincts, she finally released it this summer and has watched it become one of her most successful songs, recently surpassing 600,000 streams.

“Sometimes you just got to go with your gut,” says Kulyk, whose blend of effortlessly bright vocals and heart-tugging lyrics brings a fresh yet familiar sound to the country airwaves. “I’ve heard a lot of no’s, and ‘You’re a mom, this dream is almost impossible now.’ But like the saying goes, I didn’t come here to leave! As an independent country artist and mom who has been performing since she was three, you are all making that little girl’s dream come true.”

Indeed, Kulyk has enjoyed a lifelong passion for music. She got hooked on singing and playing the guitar at a young age, taking part in hundreds of talent shows and competitions and winning her first songwriting competition at age 13. Everything changed in high school when she was diagnosed with cancer. Instead of hitting pause on her dreams, her journey to recovery created songwriting inspiration, and the experience solidified Kulyk’s belief in a career in music.

More focused than ever, Kalsey enlisted the help of Fleetwood Mac producer Richard Dashut, relocated to Music City, and soon won both the CCMA’s Discovery Artist program and Anthem Entertainment’s On The Spot competition on the same day in 2017. Her self-titled 2019 debut album, which delivered impeccable songwriting, classic upbeat country and heartfelt ballads, premiered at No. 2 in Canada and earned her a CCMA nomination in the Roots Album of the Year category.

Now with an arsenal of songs and a survivor’s determination, Kulyk is sharing her passions with the world. In remission for 15 years, her goals are clear. “What is life,” she says, “unless you’re doing what you love every single day?”

In the days to come, Kulyk will support Drake Milligan on his Canadian tour, with shows Dec. 6 at Saskatoon’s Coors Event Centre, Dec. 7 at Edmonton’s Cook County Saloon and Dec. 8 at Ranchmans in Calgary.
