THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “In the 1980s, an iconic group emerged from Nantes, France. Les Shtauss rose to prominence and left an indelible mark on the music scene during a memorable span of seven years.
The members — Goret on vocals, Ludo and Fafa on guitars, Manu on bass, and the extraordinary drummer Jimmy B. — ignited the flames of rock ’n’ roll with 150 concerts, including prestigious opening acts for renowned names such as Lords Of The New Church, News Christs and Kid Pharaon.
Originally known as Doktor Shtauss, their musical style evolved into a captivating fusion, reminiscent of the mesmerizing tones of Lords Of The New Church and The Stooges. The stage was both a playground and a battleground for this band, where they delivered a fiercely energetic spirit, just as potent on record as in their live performances. Their charismatic and electric presence resonated deeply with every spectator in the audience.
The year 1987 proved pivotal for Les Shtauss, as their track Bang Bang Boom featured on the Eyes On You compilation, earning them international recognition. The group continued by releasing an impressive 45 titled Everybody Rockin’ / Black In Town, bursting with raging decibels, reminiscent of the pure punk style pioneered by The Ramones and The Stooges.
Their incredible energy found a fresh expression with the six-track album No Feeling (1989), a cohesive work in line with their distinctive style. It’s worth noting that the group was guided by Stéphane Saunier (in production), a pivotal figure at Closer Records during the late ’80s.
In 2023, the legacy of Les Shtauss gains a fresh breath with this comprehensive reissue of their discography, upgraded with remastering by Yaref Ben Hazim (Moodie Black, Barbara Panther). This reissue rekindles the flame of their rock ’n’ roll, providing an unprecedented opportunity to dive into the raw and timeless energy of this group.”
