Eclecticus give as good as they get on their impressive new album Double Take — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
Throughout the Toronto outfit’s rock-charged album, strong and skilled vocals front the tracks, complemented by commanding drums and impressive guitar riffs. Double Take doesn’t skip a beat, with constant explosive and electric energy at the heart of the release. “The album, we think, flows incredibly well from front to back. Each song is different from the next, and is a great reflection of our writing style,” says singer Tiina LeMay.
Formed and fronted by singer-songwriters, musicians, and life partners Gar Reid and LeMay, Eclecticus emerged from the pandemic on a mission to add additional members to the lineup. Now rounded out by electric guitarist Brian Benwell, drummer Jono Rose and bassist Darrell Goodman, the band have crafted an album that reflects their individual styles without compromising their current collective sound.
In true team fashion, Reid and LeMay felt it was important for every member to feel ownership in the tracks. So, Double Take blends new songs with updated oldies like their latest single Goin’ Far Away, an anthem that captures the lively and dynamic essence of the group. The song weaves slower grooves and melodic vocals with sudden bursts of head-banging rhythm and outstanding rock guitar features.
With years of experience in the industry, Eclecticus have seen their fair share of acclaim. They were nominated for the CIMVA Best Rock Video in 2022 for the single Got Me Going, while their track Took Me For Granted was one of the Cashbox Canada Top 50 Picks for 2021. Double Take was written and produced by Reid and LeMay. Reid also handled engineering, mix and mastering, with an assist from Noah Mintz on the mastering front.
