Classic Album Review: Various Artists | Peg City Skank 2: All You Can Eat

The Winnipeg ska label delivers 75 minutes of herk, jerk, grind ’n’ groove.

This came out in 2003 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

HOME BASE: Big ska country.
GENRE: Both kinds of music — ska and punk.
REVIEW: Roger Shank and his Bacteria Buffet label offer up a second helping of Winnipeg talent with this 20-track sampler. Fittingly, All You Can Eat is meaty, beaty, big and bouncy, with 75 minutes of herk, jerk, grind ’n’ groove from the likes of JFK And The Conspirators (who show off their rude-boy stylee with Wa Da Da) and The Afterbeat (who crank up the funhouse organ to play tribute to The Hilarious House Of Frightenstein’s Billy Van), along with The Barrymores, Bailey’s Car, Ten Too Many and about 10 other leading lights. Shank even saves a couple of spots for his own Royal Winnipeg Porn Orchestra, who revamp Randy Bachman’s Prairie Town and name-drop their pals on ’Peg City Skank.
