Classic Album Review: The Brat Attack | Destruction Sound System

The Winnipeg punk outfit's sophomore release puts the boot in nice and solid.

This came out in 2003 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

HOME BASE: Garageland.
GENRE: Old-school political ska-punk.
REVIEW: My review copy of the last Brat Attack disc had a Sonic Bloom CD in it — a shock to say the least. This time, thankfully, the only surprises were good ones. Destruction Sound System, the sophomore release from the revamped punk outfit, puts the boot in nice and solid. Buzzsaw guitars, crash ’n’ bash drums, scrappy vocals, whoa-ho singalongs and topical lyrics fuel 16 adrenalized anthems that honour their punk forefathers like The Clash and Rancid while avoiding the usual derivative pitfalls.
