Less than three decades later he was gone — dead of heart failure in the back seat of a car en route to a New Year’s Day concert in 1953. But in his short career, he penned a raft of immortal hits, including Move It On Over, Your Cheatin’ Heart, Hey Good Lookin’, Jambalaya, I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry and I’ll Never Get Out Of This World Alive.
