Albums Of The Week: Phil Campbell & The Bastard Sons | Kings Of The Asylum

The former Motörhead guitarist debuts the new frontman of his family band.

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Shortly after Phil Campbell And The Bastard Sons announced to the world the recruitment of new powerhouse lead singer Joel Peters in January 2022, the band entered their studio at Stompbox Studios, South Wales, and began writing and recording the album at the beginning of 2022.

After putting the songwriting groundwork in throughout the spring, the Bastards entered their busiest festival season to date including performances at major festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Hellfest, Graspop Metal Meeting and many more throughout the summer of 2023. Following the busy festival season, the band had time to reconvene to put the finishing touches on their new album Kings Of The Asylum.

Campbell commented: “It’s been a great experience writing this album alongside Joel and the rest of my lads. We’ve come up with some monstrous riffs and hooks for your listening pleasure. We can’t wait to play some of these songs at some of our old favourite towns and cities and visiting some new places too!”

Peters added: “I’ve had great fun working on this album alongside Phil and the boys and this is an album I am immensely proud of! Looking forward to everyone hearing it and touring these songs for the first time! We’ve got some definite bangers here!”

Kings Of The Asylum picks up where We’re The Bastards left off: you get 11 hard-hitting, honest-to-the-bone heavy rock cuts, including stand-out singles such as the stadium rock hymn Strike The Match and the fast-paced banger Too Much Is Never Enough. This is the definitive version of Phil Campbell And The Bastard Sons — the band have further perfected their timeless yet invigorating in-your-face hard rock and they are looking forward to presenting their explosive new material live this autumn on stages all across Europe.”
