THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “William Penn And His Pals (also known as William Penn Fyve) were the ultimate ’60s garage band from the Bay Area.
Their lineup featured lead guitarist Mike Shapiro on lead guitar (author of the garage-rock / acid-punk anthem Swami) and Gregg Rolie (later of Santana and Journey fame) on organ and vocals. Mickey Hart of The Grateful Dead was also the drummer for a brief period.
Here’s the first vinyl release of their complete recordings. Naturally, it includes their fuzzed-out Swami / Blow My Mind 45 of Pebbles fame, along with plenty of primo, previously unissued recordings from their 1966 heyday. A feat of garage-punk and teen-beat.”
