Classic Album Review: The Frost | The Best Of

Future Alice Cooper guitarist Dick Wagner leads this ’60s Detroit hard-rock outfit.

This came out in 2003 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

THE ORIGINAL RELEASE DATE: 1969.

THE BACK STORY: You probably haven’t heard of this late ’60s Detroit hard-rock outfit. But you may have heard of singer-guitarist Dick Wagner, who went on to play with Alice Cooper and Lou Reed. Here you get an old, surprisingly powerful live gig whose blue-collar rock sound echoes contemporaries like Grand Funk and The Guess Who.

THE GOODIES: If you’ve heard any of these tracks before, you’ve gotta be even older and geekier than I am.

THE EXTRAS: Historical liner notes.
