Classic Album Review: Tiger Army | Early Years EP

Nick 13 and his psychobilly outfit collect a handful of decent oldies from the vault.

This came out in 2003 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Far as I know, there aren’t a lot of folks who know what Tiger Army sound like today, never mind what they were like five years ago.

Still, those who know and love the work of singer-guitarist Nick 13 — or anybody who digs the psychobilly sound of bands like Shockabilly, Flat Duo Jets, The Cramps and early Horton Heat — won’t find much to dislike on the six-cut Early Years EP, which collects four old originals from the trio along with suitably turbocharged covers of Eddie Cochran’s Twenty Flight Rock and The MisfitsAmerican Nightmare. And after this, you’ll know all about Tiger Army. Better late than never, huh?
