Tissa Rahim is at the end of her romantic rope in her soulfully stirring new single Done Done Done — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
An emotional stocktaking set to a supple retro-soul track reminiscent of Amy Winehouse or Corrine Bailey Rae, the Vancouver singer-songwriter’s breakup ballad finds her transforming heartache and disappointment into empowering anger at a manipulative soon-to-be-ex:
“Now I’m done meeting you well past halfway
I’m done needing you, hoping you’d change
Who knew the end of us was the start of something great
You thought I was in it
Now I’m done, done, done.”
Rahim, lovingly known as the Persian Powerhouse, is an established West Coast musician recently listed in 24 Magazine’s 24 Under 24. She recently completed a 40-city North American tour, including stops at the House of Blues in New Orleans, The Gramercy Theater in New York and Vancouver’s quintessential jazz and soul club, Guilt and Co.
Rahim’s collaborators include producers such as 100 Monkeys’ Jackson Rathbone. As a solo artist, she has found a unique ability to express herself freely, exploring her natural divination in soul and R&B, while infusing it with traditional Persian music. Since 2019, Rahim has built up an enticing catalog of digital releases, videos, and collaborations with artists in Vancouver and beyond.
