Classic Album Review: Burning Brides | Fall Of The Plastic Empire

The power-hungry Philadelphia rockers blend The Stooges, Nirvana, QOTSA & more.

This came out in 2002 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Talk about a bigamous match made in indie-rock heaven. Philadelphia’s power-hungry Burning Brides marry the ’60s and ’70s Detroit-rock choogle of The Stooges to the grunge intensity of Nirvana, the power-over-precision thrash of garage-rock and the hooky robot rock of Queens Of The Stone Age. Fall Of The Plastic Empire — independently issued nearly two years ago, but now rising like a phoenix on a major label — is the twisted offspring of this unholy union.
