This came out in 2003 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):
THE MAIN EVENT: One-named pop goddesses Anastacia, Cher and Shakira share a Sin City stage with Celine Dion, Stevie Nicks and The Dixie Chicks in this 2002 instalment of the VH1 music series.
Sadly, no bitch-slaps are handed out — though Celine and Anastacia mangle AC/DC’s You Shook Me All Night Long (though Sin City would have made way more sense) and most of the gals butcher old Elvis tunes in the 40-minute show’s finale.
EXTRAS! EXTRAS! The obligatory behind-the-scenes documentary featuring lotsa celebrity backslapping. More interesting is what’s missing from the show — host Ellen DeGeneres has been edited out completely.
AW, SKIP IT: Aside from the Chicks / Nicks version of Landslide — and perhaps the kitsch value of Cher’s Believe and (This is) A Song For the Lonely — they could have edited a whole lot more out of this sucker.
