This came out in 2002 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):
Normally, I don’t bother reviewing soundtrack albums after the movies are gone. But I’m gonna make an exception for The Banger Sisters, if only because it’s one of the few soundtracks lately that even seems to be trying.
In keeping with the flick’s concept — two former ’60s groupies in the new millennium — many of the disc’s 13 cuts bridge the generation gap. Sometimes it’s new guys doing old tunes — Ben Folds revamps Jackson Browne’s Doctor My Eyes, Trevor Rabin updates The Animals’ Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood and Tommy Lee rocks up David Bowie’s Fame. Sometimes it’s old guys like Roger Daltrey and Peter Frampton doing new tunes. And just to confuse the issue, there’s Goldie Hawn’s son-in-law Chris Robinson from The Black Crowes — an ’80s rocker who still sounds like he’s stuck in the ’70s on his new solo cut The Red Road. All in all, a decent way to pass the time.
