If you don’t know who Ginger Wildheart is, you probably live in North America.
Over in his native England, the singer-guitarist and songwriter is deservedly famous, respected and beloved as the founder and frontman of his hard-hitting namesake band The Wildhearts. On this side of the pond, well, let’s just say folks have a lot of catching up to do. And I mean a lot — the on-again, off-again Wildhearts are just one segment of the prolific and eclectic artist’s lengthy resumé, which also includes more than a dozen solo albums in a variety of genres, stints with everyone from The Quireboys to Michael Monroe and a handful of great side projects. Meet the latest: Ginger Wildheart & The Sinners, an American-centric roots-rock outfit whose members went out for drinks before they ever played a note of music together. Based on the quality of their new self-titled debut album — Ginger‘s first official North American release in years — it was a winning strategy. A few weeks before its arrival, Ginger Zoomed in from his home to talk about his album, some of his favourite bands — including a Canadian act — gore movies, pickled eggs and much, much more. Enjoy.
