Classic Album Review: Various Artists | Pledge of Allegiance Tour

System Of A Down & Slipknot join forces for their own travelling metal roadshow.

This came out in 2002 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

In the tradition of the Ozzfest and Family Values Tour albums, here’s a live document of last year’s Pledge of Allegiance Tour — a venture headlined by brainy, brawny L.A. rap-rockers System Of A Down and murderously destructive nü-metal tantrumists Slipknot.

Naturaly, they also get top spot on this CD, with three tunes each from their latest albums (Down offer impressive versions of Chop Suey!, Bounce and Toxicity; Slipknot pummel and grind their way through People=S***, Heretic Anthem and New Abortion). Rounding out the 10-track disc are Slipknot Jr. outfit Mudvayne (Under my Skin and Pharmaecopia), American Head Charge (Seamless) and No One (My Release). Not surprisingly, it’s a fairly one-dimensional affair. Still, the angry teen in your house will swear by it.
