Late-Night TV Music (Good News / Bad News Edition) | Jan. 4, 2022

One day into the new year, we're already a man down — but the show must go on.

The good news: The late-night TV shows are back from holidays — and bringing another year of musical performances with them. The bad news: Seth Meyers made it through one episode before he was sidelined with Covid. Thankfully, the rest of the shows still went on:

• St. Vincent dropped by The Late Late Show with James Corden to perform a better-late-than-never acoustic version of …At The Holiday Party;

Yola brought some sweet soul power to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (who also got the Covid recently) with her number Dancing Away in Tears;

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert shared a clip of Nell & The Flaming Lips covering Nick Cave‘s Red Right Hand from their collaborative album Where The Viaduct Looms.

All in all, pretty good turnout, considering. And hopefully, there’s more where they came from … assuming Seth and Jimmy didn’t infect everybody else at some sort of talk-show host holiday shindig.
