Talk about good timing.
In yesterday’s segment on Get Back, Eric Alper and I weighed in on the wonders of The Beatles’ genial road manager Mal Evans, the gentle giant and jack of all trades who indulged the band’s every whim without complaint. Today brought the news that there are not one but two new Evans-centric projects in the works: An authorized biography of his life and tragic death (he was gunned down by L.A. cops in 1976) by Beatles scholar and author Kenneth Womack, and the publication of his own archives chronicling his day-to-day life with John, Paul, George and Ringo. Given that, we’re naturally talking about Evans again on today’s segment of Sonic Reducers. Listen in as we marvel about Mal some more, discuss the crucial role he played in in the Fabs’ existence, and get you prepped for another weekend of new music. Sonic Reducers. One topic (OK, maybe two). Two music nerds. Five minutes. Everything you need to know.
