As if new concert T-shirts aren’t expensive enough already: A vintage Grateful Dead T-shirt from 1967 just sold for $17,640 at a Sotheby’s auction, shattering the previous record held by a Led Zeppelin shirt from their 1979 Knebworth show.
But before you start scouring your closet, basement, garage and attic, take a listen to today’s episode of Sonic Reducers. Fellow T-shirt enthusiast Eric Alper and I will marvel at the fact that the Dead number fetched much containing none of Jerry’s DNA, compare and contrast our personal concert T collections, and debate whether it’s cool or a thirsty flex to wear your favourite band’s shirt to their show. Have I used the word shirt enough in this post? I hope so. Sonic Reducers. One topic. Two music nerds. Everything you need to know. Shirt.
