I have had my fair share of encounters with the gentlemen of Metallica over the decades.
That includes interviewing various members live and over the phone, hanging out backstage at their shows — fun fact: they have an entire second set of gear set up so they can warm up / rehearse / work on new songs / jam if they want to — and even drinking with them in their hotel rooms with the dudes from The Mentors. Since their landmark self-titled release — aka the Black Album — was just reissued as a massive box set along with the massive tribute collection The Blacklist, it seems like a good day for Eric Alper and I to chat about the band on today’s episode of Sonic Reducers. Listen in as we talk about the Black Album 30th anniversary box, take not of the band’s notorious tardiness with the media, and share a great backstage story about how well they treat their fans by comparison. Sonic Reducers: One topic. Two music nerds. Five minutes. Everything you need to know. Take my hand — we’re off to Metallicaland.
