About damn time. Neary four decades after it was unleashed on the world, Creatures For Awhile — the legendary album from Winnipeg punk heroes Personality Crisis — is finally getting the attention it deserves. For those who don’t know PC yet, there’s no better time to get acquainted. I won’t bother rehashing their story — that’s what Wikipedia is for, after all — but suffice to say they were one of the greatest bands of their day. And no punk-rock collection is complete without a copy of Creatures For Awhile. Listen and learn.
THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Personality Crisis of Winnipeg left us but one full-length LP and it has certainly stood the test of time. Now regarded as a Canadian punk rock classic, the record was initially released via San Francisco-based Risky Records in 1983.
There have been a couple of sporadic “re-issues” created over the years but Porterhouse is doing one better. Creatures for Awhile will become part of the catalog and kept in print full-time. We’re starting things off with a craft batch of 250 pieces pressed on audiophile black vinyl, with all original artwork.
Additionally, the album will make its worldwide digital debut, finally becoming available at Apple Music and Spotify. Porterhouse will be creating new vinyl variants in the future and we’re planning something special for the record’s 40th Anniversary in 2023 as well.”
