Vapa | Mental (ft. Cabadzi)

HOME BASE: France.
GENRE: Electronica.
THE EDITED BIO & PRESS RELEASE: “French music producer Vapa makes his presence felt on the dance floor with indie electronic and late-night rhythmic patterns. Since 2017, Vapa has been pushing himself further into the scene through his singles, developing his following. The tracks created through this solo project have consistently been layered with a careful hand. The core structures tend to be built around harmonic work and reverberating pulses, framework which Vapa then seeks to fill with themes he’s living for. While Vapa demonstrates his refusal to limit his audio style with each track, he remains consistent in his inclusion of found sound, sampling from various journalists or well-known personalities. In this way he imbibes his work with the discourse of global issues, making successful attempts to remove the divide between dance floor music and the multifaceted reality of our modern world.”

Mona | Un Boltanski

In her second album, Hors Du Monde, she creates female characters with thwarted destinies and sings their life with a voice imbued with fado. Mona’s intense vocals perfectly express the harsh lives of those women. We can feel intimately the implications of their choices as lovers and mothers. They are both wretched and splendid. Mona softly gives to her music a poetic and political tone. Her artistic choices against the flow are bold as well as her characters. Mona shares their will to act despite of their destiny, preferring walking uncertain side paths rather than comfortable but crowded highways. The result is breathtaking and shall ravish music lovers’ hearts. This clip was born from a close collaboration between Mona and the videographer-photographer Anne-Laure Etienne. Derek Orsi | The Day He Fell Off The Face Of The World

HOME BASE: Canada.
GENRE: Indie-Rock.
THE EDITED BIO & PRESS RELEASE: “A frenetic guitar chord echoes, followed by a chirping melodic synth line, heavy bass riff, and monolithic drum beat. A man tumbles through a wormhole into an endless void and the sonic atmosphere is gritty and dark. You’re now in the realm of Montreal’s Derek Orsi — specifically in the orbit of his latest single The Day He Fell Off The Face Of The World. “This is a song about escaping the material world and diving into the ethereal world. It’s about a person’s disinterest in the prison we live in on Earth and looking to move beyond its limited physical construct through love and awareness,” Orsi says. The Day He Fell Off The Face Of The World, is a track that will make you nostalgic for the sounds of early grunge and a cosmic reinvention of modern alt-rock. Orsi wrote the track during a period of his life when he was constantly alone, somewhat of an outsider. He’d wake up late in the afternoon and head to his studio to write, produce and record music deep into the night.”

Miranda Elise | Let You Know

GENRE: Pop.
THE EDITED BIO & PRESS RELEASE: “I was born in P.E.I., but since 2000 I live in Switzerland. I speak and sing in English and French. I started writing and rapping since I was a teenager. One day, while going through my parents’ belongings, I came across this little book, stained and a little damaged, with the title Songs Without Music by Jim Corey. I turned to my mother (also a musician) and grandmother for more information. Jim Corey (James William Cushinan) was my maternal grandfather. I never knew him because he died when my mother was 18. I only heard stories about Jim and his love for writing, music and romance. After Jim passed away, the family collected his words and published a small book. I started to read it, meditate on it, get inspired by it … and compose! We are all looking for the truth and everyone has their own truth in them … So I decided to tell my own. I’m creating this project so that my grandfather’s words and my mother’s passion resonate through my music. But also, to share my experience and encourage people to do things that speak to us personally.”
