If the music on Monday’s late-night TV lineup were a poker hand, it would be a full house — with some aces in the mix. The top cards, of course, were Karen O and Danger Mouse, augmented by barefoot dancers (and director Spike Jonze) for a kinda creepy, very freaky black-and-white romp through Woman on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Nobody could top that kind of commitment — but Sharon Van Etten came close with her intense rendition of Comeback Kid on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. And let’s not forget British retro-rocker Miles Kane, stylishly playing the glam card (and dropping a Sweet reference) with Cry On My Guitar on The Late Late Show With James Corden. Last but not least, Emily King schooled the Late Night With Seth Meyers crowd with Teach You, slyly shifting from acoustic guitar folk-pop to slinky R&B in mid-song. All in all, a winning hand.
