Late-Night TV Music (Opposite Attractions Edition) | Jan. 28, 2019

Paul Simon and 21 Savage cover both ends of the late-night spectrum.

What do 21 Savage and Paul Simon have in common? Absolutely nothing — except that they were both peddling their wares on the talk shows Monday night. The young Atlanta rapper was on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to sing his surprisingly tender thug-life memoir A Lot with the help of some soulful backup singers. At almost the exact same time, the senior singer-songwriter was on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to croon his gorgeous surrealist classic Rene & Georgette Magritte With Their Dog After The War with the backing of string ensemble yMusic and the bluesy One Man’s Ceiling is Another Man’s Floor with the help of Colbert’s house band. Opposites indeed. But you know what they say about opposites.
