Patiently Awaiting the Meteorite have a feeling that they’ve been here before — and they’re sharing their Strange Intuition exclusively with Tinnitist!
The new video from the Quebec trio’s debut album Canyon Diablo, Strange Intuition lives up to its name, unfolding like a dream as a slowly rotating camera tracks singer Dee through a surreal, seemingly random series of settings populated by masked gamblers, hazmat-suited lab staff, religious fanatics — and ominous figures in red and black hoodies. The fuzzy electro-rock number is every bit as hooky as the video is intriguing, thanks to its head-nodding groove, twangy post-surf guitars, brooding bassline and singalong chorus.
PATM is the latest project from three veterans from the Quebec/Canadian music scene. The Grand Brothers have sold more than a million albums internationally in their 15-year career. They produced, co-produced, mixed and contributed to the success of projects such as Bran Van 3000, Cirque Du Soleil, Pascale Picard, Terez Montcalim and Kevin Parent. Frontman Dee is a multi-talented musician who founded The Urbanauts in the ’90s.
The three met more than a decade ago when they worked together on Day By Day, Dee’s second solo album. Since then, they have joined forces on every level of music production, scoring and placing music in movies, television, documentaries, ads, video games. All that time spent refining their art shows in PATM. The sonic signature is modern yet displays a vintage vibe that references everyone from The Dandy Warhols and Beck to Emerson, Lake and Palmer.
