Ferris Pier And Rhys Lewis Want To Be Dancing When They Die

The U.S. producer & the London vocalist join forces for some playful dance-pop.

Ferris Pier kicks up his heels with the playful dance-pop single Dancing When I Die — showcasing today on Tinnitist.

A whimsical funk bop featuring British superstar Rhys Lewis, the track bursts with energy, blending upbeat rhythms, undeniable grooves and uplifting spirit with nostalgic nods to the seminal records of the 1980s.

Continuing his global collaborations, American artist and producer Pier’s collaboration with London’s Lewis follows previous releases featuring vocalists from Sweden and Thailand. Pier praises Lewis as “a musical and lyrical genius,” expressing gratitude for the opportunity to work with such a talented vocalist. Their chemistry is evident, channeling a contagious joy that radiates through the track’s rhythm and melody. Like much of Pier’s work, Dancing When I Die is driven by a sense of happiness and celebration, making it impossible to sit still. This latest release solidifies Pier’s ability to blend nostalgia with fresh, danceable sounds, delivering a track that honors the past while igniting the present. Paying tribute to the legendary artists who shaped today’s music-making generation, the song references icons like Huey Lewis & The News, Whitney Houston, Prince, Madonna, Talking Heads and Marvin Gaye.

Hailing from Spokane, Pier was immersed in music from an early age, thanks to his father, a band director. He quickly developed a passion for multiple instruments, mastering piano, guitar, drums, and various other instruments before pursuing a degree in piano jazz performance at Whitworth University. Inspired by the improvisational nature of jazz, Pier expanded into composition and production, carving out his signature sound — a dynamic fusion of dance, pop, and disco with orchestral highlights and tropical overtones.

Now a full-time artist and producer, Pier collaborates with a diverse range of vocalists, including Elle Winter, Brother Leo, Victoria Canal, and finalists from The Voice, ensuring each track carries its own unique essence. His work has made a notable impact in the Europop scene, landing placements on Sweden’s iTunes Pop Charts, earning over 4 million streams, and securing multiple editorial playlists. Pier continues to push creative boundaries. His previous single, Biohacking My Technology ft. Brother Leo, garnered over 700K streams in just four months. His latest collaboration with British singer-songwriter Lewis — an artist with over 1.3 million monthly listeners — pays homage to the timelessness of the ’80s and the groundwork for musical generations to come.
