This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):
Some pianists write florid love letters with their music. By contrast, the magnificent Bill Evans — who contributed to the Miles Davis classic Kind of Blue before going on to become one of the most influential pianists in jazz — is creating musical haiku with his understated, thoughtful tone poems and quietly seductive style. You get plenty of both in this compilation.
TURN-ONS: A selection of gems, including collaborations with tenor sax legend Stan Getz.
TURN-OFFS: None of those Miles tracks.
GOES WITH: Candlelight, sushi, a cabin at the lake.
