Nadia Younes Etches A Tombstone For Her Relationship

The pop singer-songwriter gives up the romantic ghost on her latest single.

Nadia Younes knows how to mark a love that’s dead and gone with her fiery new breakup single Tombstone — showcasing today on Tinnitist.

The independent pop singer, songwriter and dancer is back with a track that’s equal parts confident, sexy and fun. Blending her signature brand of nostalgic R&B / soul with fresh, modern pop elements — including a bold beat, catchy lyrics, and powerful vocals — Tombstone takes listeners on a ride through the end of a relationship.

Despite conjuring images of death, the track is anything but dark. It’s a celebration of empowerment, confidence and reclaiming one’s power. The track explores the realization that one deserves better and should end things, even if their partner doesn’t see it coming. The infectious, upbeat energy combines an early 2000s R&B vibe with a contemporary pop sound. The guitar riff, inspired by Britney SpearsBaby One More Time, makes this song catchy, while Younes’ commanding vocals and clever lyricism give it a playful attitude.

“I love how I can visualize ‘etch our dates into a tombstone.’ It might be one of my favorite lines in any of my songs.” explains Younes, who cut the track in her home studio. “The recording process is always the best part because that’s when your ideas actually come to life. So many small details in the song came to be a part of it simply because I was just messing around.” Tombstone was written by Younes alongside Thomas M.L Ravago and Christopher Papalia, with production by Tedious, Joshtin and Som1Else, and mixing by Andrew James Clark.

Hailing from Saratoga, CA, Younes is a classically trained musician who performed in operas and musical theatre while also training in ballet and competitive dance. She made her solo debut in 2019 with the single You Can’t Love Me At All. Inspired by Whitney Houston, Ariana Grande, Mariah Carey and Chaka Khan, Younes creates a fresh, danceable sound. She was featured on rapper Conejo’s H.O.P.E., earning Grammy consideration for Best Gospel Performance. Her music can be heard on Austin High, several independent film soundtracks, and in Kevin Bacon’s upcoming film Connescence. In 2024, Younes opened for R&B singer Jon B. at the Independent Artists Music Awards and released her first EP Anybody But You, collaborating with 3013 Music.
