Classic Album Review: Magneta Lane | The Constant Lover

The Toronto trio channel plenty of brash punky spirit on their decent debut EP.

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

This trio of Toronto women are barely out of their teens, and supposedly began playing together — and in general — little over a year ago.

But their relative inexperience doesn’t stop them from channelling the brash spirits of early Blondie, the young Chrissie Hynde and The Go-Go’s at their punkiest on the six catchy post-punk cuts of this decent debut EP. More impressive for their age and gender, ML work their impressive musical magic with their clothes on and without backing tapes or dance moves.
