Billy Talbot has been playing bass with Neil Young and Crazy Horse for, like, 200 years. Do you really need to be told what his first solo album sounds like?
Didn’t think so. But even if it’s not exactly a musical revelation, amid all the howling canyon-sized guitars and plodding molasses-slow grooves, there are a couple of surprises: 1) He’s a better songwriter than you’d expect; 2) He sings even worse than Neil.
