Classic Christmas Album Review: The Barenaked Ladies | Barenaked For the Holidays

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Who needs nine ladies dancing for Christmas when you’ve got five Barenaked ones throwing a hilarious multi-denominational holiday bash?

CHESTNUTS ROASTED: We Three Kings (with Sarah McLachlan); Hanukkah, O Hanukkah; Sleigh Ride; I Have A Little Dreidel.

YULE LOVE: The funky Jingle Bells; the cheeseball Wurlitzer organ versions of O Holy Night and Rudolph, complete with Rhythm Ace beats; the wickedly funny Elf’s Lament (with Michael Bublé); the envy-filled Green Christmas; the CSNY-style chorale Deck The Stills; the jazzy family gathering tale Christmas Pics; the a cappella Happy Birthday, Dear Jesus; and nearly every other cut on this thoroughly entertaining 20-track set.

YULE WISH: That they would make this an annual tradition.
