Classic Album Review: The Residents | Commercial Album 25th Anniversary Edition

One minute is all the San Francisco oddbals need to get the job done.

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Commercial means different things to different people.

To the anonymous avant-garde artistes of San Francisco’s Residents, it meant making an album of 40 songs — each one minute long. Thankfully, it didn’t mean altering their creepy, bleepy sound for this 1980 release.

EXTRAS: This “25th anniversary edition” comes in a hardbound book with 30 pages of lyrics and images from a simultaneously released DVD version.
