Clay And Kelsy struggle with self-development on their new single Memories Of Me — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
The fourth track from the dreamy electronic pop duo’s upcoming debut EP I Am, Memories Of Me highlights the regretful and chaotic process of change in hopes that this dark transition doesn’t crumble identities. This somber track, featuring melancholy synths, moody drums, and pleading lyrics, solidifies the sense of guilt that Clay And Kelsy portray. Through times of self-identity and destruction, you start to feel like everything is falling apart.
“This song is an endless loop, a funeral march of one’s self,” they explain. “In the ruins of a shattered relationship, one person faces their own destruction. The moments that become memories are sacred spaces in our hearts, fragile and unprotected, ready to burst like a dam. Will you remember me?”
The song’s production is meticulous, with each instrument carefully placed to enhance the emotional weight of the lyrics. The interplay between organic and synthetic sounds creates a dynamic soundscape, reflecting the inner turmoil and conflict expressed. Produced by both Clay And Kelsy, Memories Of Me was mastered by Grammy winner John Greenham (Billie Eilish), adding layers of depth and complexity to the track.
Although Clay And Kelsy just celebrated 13 years together as life partners, their band blossomed in 2021. Producing from the comfort of their own home, the duo pull inspiration from life experiences they share and continuously craft electro-pop art and their own sonic world. Their sultry, symphonic rendition of Bob Marley And The Wailers’ Three Little Birds amassed over 478,000 streams and was featured in The Morning Show. As artists, producers, instrument designers and the founders of CKI — a queer woman-owned software instrument company — their innovative take on the industry as female-forward powerhouses is unstoppable. Their storytelling extends beyond lyrics, resonating through every sonic decision and production choice, enhancing the emotional impact for their audience.
