Classic Album Review: Peter Himmelman | Unstoppable Forces

The Minnesota native’s dozenth disc displays both the range and depth of his talent.

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Peter Himmelman has been writing the music for TV’s Judging Amy for years. But don’t hold that against him — we all have to pay the bills.

In his spare time, the Minnesota native is a deservedly respected singer-songwriter with an earnest and earthy style influenced by Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Steve Earle and John Hiatt. And his dozenth disc Unstoppable Forces is a quietly impressive document that displays both the range and depth of his talent as it moves smoothly between heartfelt folk-pop troubadourism and scrappy, crunching roots-rock. Judge for yourself; I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
