Classic Album Review: Flavour | The Common Good

Do you smell something funky? It might be the young Winnipeg funkateers’ debut.

This came out in 2003 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

HOME BASE: Deep in the groove.
GENRE: White boys who get down.
REVIEW: Do you smell something funky? It might be this debut disc from young Winnipeg funkateers Flavour. The Common Good is a decent slab of grooviness that crossbreeds the scritch-scratch wah-wah guitars, crisp backbeats and finger-popping bass of Red Hot Chili Peppers with the rootsy pop and raspy vocals of Dave Matthews. Granted, it isn’t that uncommon. But for a band mostly made up of teens, it’s pretty good.
