John E Vistic smells like Nirvana in the video for his new single Gunz Germz and Steal! — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
A preview of the London-born, Australia-raised, Bristol-based rocker’s upcoming EP Humanz Are Bastardz, the video is a loving tribute to Kurt Cobain and was taped on the anniversary of his death. Eagle-eyed viewers will see plenty of objects, Easter eggs and visual references to the famous Nirvana video Smells Like Teen Spirit.
For those who aren’t already in the know, Vistic plays a unique amalgam of punk, rock ’n’ roll and alt-country that would fit in on a playlist with The Stooges, Viagra Boys, Nick Cave, Idles, The Fall, PIL, My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, Metz, Jesus & Mary Chain, Marky Ramone, Jesus Lizard, Cramps, Birthday Party and more.
Due Nov. 10, Humanz Are Bastardz delivers a raw, visceral and vicious aural attack, with an existentialist theme that from novelists and thinkers like Jared Diamond, Mikhailovich Dostoevsky, Karl Ove Knausgård and Ian Dury, along with dashes of ChatGPT and Terminator for good measure. The four-track EP follows the 2021 album Under The Volcano (which shares a title with Malcolm Lowry’s infamous novel), and the singles Das Ubermensch and Spiderz, which garnered much love and airplay.
No stranger to the big stage, he has shared the spotlight with the likes of Mudhoney, The Sonics, Alabama 3 and The Jim Jones Revue, and held his own at Rebellion, Camp Bestival, Glastonbury and Latitude festivals.
