Aaron Pollock makes it all About You in the cleverly entertaining video for his romantically yearning country-pop single — premiering exclusively on Tinnitist.
The Alberta singer-songwriter’s most ambitious song to date, About You is Pollock’s unabashedly vulnerable introspection on what it means to be in love. The track mirrors Pollock’s relentless passion to create music that pushes boundaries while authentically embodying his identity as an artist, no matter how much it stands out. However, his soulful vocal delivery and thoughtful songwriting make this offering an unmistakable part of his ever-evolving sound. Partnering with Seattle producer Andy D. Park (Noah Gundersen, Ciara), Pollock wears his lyrical heart on his sleeve once again:
“If a thought runs through my mind
If a word hangs on my lips
If an ache leans on my chest
It’s gonna be about you
“If I have to cross some lines
If I have to cross my heart
If I have to talk to God
It’s gonna be about you.”
“About You means so much to me for so many different reasons,” says Pollock. “Being in love is equal parts elating and terrifying, and when I wrote it with Lydia Sutherland and Chris Yurchuck, we really wanted to capture the nuanced spectrum of those feelings. This song sounds completely different than anything else that I’ve put out. While this idea was initially a little scary, Andy Park did an absolutely beautiful job of crafting a recording completely unique to anything I’ve ever released while simultaneously fully capturing who I am as an artist.”
A CCMA-nominated singer-songwriter based in Nashville, Pollock is broadening his country sound and exploring new sonic territory by embracing influences ranging from John Mayer and Don Henley to country greats like Keith Urban and Brothers Osborne and current obsessions such as The Night Game and The Band CAMINO. Over the past few years, Pollock has established himself as a prolific (and successful) songwriter with over 1,000 songs in his catalogue. He’s been nominated for Songwriter of the Year at the 2022 Canadian Country Music Awards (Rebel Phase by The Prairie States) and won the Songwriter of the Year prize at the 2021 Country Music Alberta Awards.
He has worked extensively with a variety of established and emerging artists including Lydia Sutherland, Owen Riegling, Brett Kissel and Ben Chase, to name a few. He co-wrote seven tracks on Kyle McKearney’s sophomore album A Traveler’s Lament. With a growing fanbase and critical acclaim, Pollock is poised to become one of the most exciting new artists in the genre.
