Classic Album Review: Scala | On the Rocks / Royal Philharmonic Orchestra | Plays Hits of Pink Floyd

Both will make you wonder where teachers like this were when you were taking band.

This came out in 2003 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

The first one features a choir of teenage Belgian girls angelically crooning pop and alt-rock fare like David Bowie’s Life On Mars, Radiohead’s Life On Mars, Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit and Puddle of Mudd’s She Hates Me. The second features the 70-some piece RPO bowing and blowing Pink Floyd classics like Money, Us & Them, Hey You and Wish You Were Here. Neither will likely grace your CD player more than a few times before the novelty wears off. But both of them will definitely make you wonder where teachers like this were when you were singing in the choir and taking band.
