May Davis is taking a ride down to the Ocean Side — and she’s got room for one more in her enticing new single, premiering exclusively on Tinnitist.
A sun-kissed invitation to let your hair down, throw caution to the wind and head off on unknown adventures, the B.C. folksinger and songwriter’s latest single is a carefree musical cruise through a late-night landscape of shimmering guitars, ropy acoustic basslines and groovy backbeats, with the raspy Davis as your tempting tour guide:
“If you wanna climb on in, come on let’s go
I’m headed south to places no one knows
We’ll cruise on by the ocean side cause babe, I wanna ride
This ain’t no station wagon puttering around town
I ain’t no taxi driver, pedal to the ground
This is freedom, yeah, it’s so much more
So stop your worrying and open up that door
If you want adventure come and take my hand
If you wanna know I’ll help you understand
That together, you and me and the devil makes three
Yeah baby you and me and the devil makes three.”
Davis is an emerging singer-songwriter based in Revelstoke. Her unique and unforgettable sound pulls from blues, Americana and old-time country western with smoky vocals that echo vintage crooners like Bobbie Gentry and Janis Joplin, but the unforgettable stories and songs she brings to the stage are all her own. In 2021, Davis released her first album One Way Ticket, which she showcased on her fruitful May in July summer tour in 2022. Davis has supported notable bands like Elliott Brood and Shred Kelly and headlined the Kaslo Jazz Etc. Festival, Summer Sounds and Tiny Lights. She has plenty more tricks up her sleeve for 2023, including some saucy singles and a deadly music video on the wild horizon — so buckle up and stay tuned!
