Classic Album Review: Various Artists | Infecting The Galaxy One Planet At A Time

Some of the Seattle indie label's newest stars contribute to this 65-minute sampler.

This came out in 2003 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

WHO ARE THEY? The kings and queens of the Sub Pop universe.

WHAT’S THIS? An eclectic, 65-minute sampler of 17 cuts from many of the label’s recent releases. The roll call includes Mudhoney (who kick things off with a Stooges-style Sonic Infusion), Sebadoh’s Jason Loewenstein (who serves up a jangly solo Casserole), Hot Hot Heat (who get their groove on with Bandages), and cosmic cowboys Beachwood Sparks (who choreograph a Ghost Dance 1492), among others.

HOW DOES IT SOUND? Like a great starting place for anybody who wants to get acquainted with the sound of Sub Pop.
