You can keep Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day and Labour Day. For music lovers and vinyl junkies, Record Store Day is the most important day of the year.
And as always, the 2022 event — which takes place on Saturday, April 23 — promises something for everybody, with hundreds of rare releases from a who’s who lineup that includes Joni Mitchell, The Rolling Stones, U2, Taylor Swift, Stevie Nicks, Prince, The Replacements, David Bowie, Miles Davis and scores more. The full list of titles was just released, and I’ll be posting it as soon as I can reformat their 10-page pdf — but for those who can’t wait, Eric Alper and I are doing some preliminary crate-digging on today’s episode of Sonic Reducers. Punch play to watch us run through some of this year’s biggest Record Store Day offerings, pick our favourites and explain why the event still matters. Sonic Reducers. One topic. Two music nerds. Five minutes. Everything you need to know.
