Chris Wenner bares his soul in his elegant and eloquent new single Naked and Blind — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
Intimately revealing and tenderly beautiful, the prolific German singer-songwriter and guitarist’s ninth release of the year sings the praises of a longstanding, lifesaving love. Set atop a gentle, stripped-down acoustic guitar, lyrics like ‘Our love is my lighthouse’ and ‘Without you, I would be naked and blind’ — voiced in Wenner’s calm romantic tones — coalesce into a sweet, sincere ballad whose simple, timeless grace is reminiscent of vintage Paul McCartney.
“Naked and Blind describes the closeness and security in the day-to-day life of two lovers,” the German singer-songwriter and guitarist says. “The shared experience becomes the central element here — from waking up to times of struggle.”
Aided on the track by producer Guido Craveiro, Wenner stays true to his musical line with Naked And Blind, crafting another acoustic gem with a real message at their core. In fact, Naked and Blind is quintessential Wenner: Light and upbeat but accompanied by the depth of lifelong experience.
Wenner discovered his love for guitars as a teen in the early ’70s, and soon began composing his own songs, inspired by the likes of Crosby, Stills & Nash, Paul McCartney, James Taylor and Paul Simon, all of whom have had a meaningful influence on his folk-pop sound. While pursuing a successful career in law, Wenner continued to build out his musical repertoire, writing and recording, both as a soloist and with renowned artists. In 2020, at the age of 64, he released his debut album New Born Man, featuring 12 songs which span almost half a century of songwriting. Naked And Blind is the second-last of 10 songs he is releasing in 2021.
